A native of California, he attended high school in Missouri where he met his future wife at the age of 15. She is pursuing a second career in Marriage and Family Therapy, and they have three children including two in college. Dr. Witt is active in his church, enjoys medical mission projects, and has recently begun part-time graduate studies in theology. In his free time, Dr. Witt enjoys travel, reading books, learning languages, and working with a Golden Retriever rescue group.
A graduate summa cum laude in mathematics from Washington University in St. Louis, where he also completed neurology residency, Dr. Witt holds his medical degree from the University of Chicago and did fellowship training in electromyography with Mayo Clinic. He holds board certifications in neurology and vascular neurology (stroke), and has published several research papers in leading medical journals. Prior to coming to Murfreesboro, he spent four years on active duty with the United States Air Force. He is on the hospital staff at Middle Tennessee Medical Center where he directs a certified stroke program and is a past recipient of that hospital’s Clinician of the Year award.
